iPhone teleprompter apps compared
Many iPhone teleprompter apps now scroll with your voice and work with an Apple Watch, so the real differences are price, what happens after you record, and what the app collects about you. If you want free or cheap, start with Teleprompter for Video, PromptSmart Pro or Founder Camera. If you want the edit done for you and nothing tracked, that is what we built Boardroom Cue for, and it costs more.
Read this knowing who wrote it. We make Boardroom Cue, one of the apps below. To keep it fair, every fact about the other apps comes from its own App Store listing (US store) on 29 October 2026, linked at the end. “Not listed” means the listing doesn’t claim it, not that the app can’t do it. Prices and ratings change; tap through before you buy.
The short version
- Free to start: Teleprompter for Video (free for scripts up to 750 characters), Teleprompter Premium for Video and Teleprompter.com all have free versions with paid upgrades.
- Pay once: Founder Camera ($9.99) and PromptSmart Pro ($29.99). Teleprompter Pro also sells Pro as a one-time purchase.
- Scrolls with your voice: Boardroom Cue, Teleprompter.com, Teleprompter for Video, PromptSmart Pro and Teleprompter Premium for Video.
- Collects the least: Teleprompter Premium for Video (“Data not collected”) and PromptSmart Pro (nothing linked to you). Boardroom Cue links nothing to you and tracks nothing.
- Edits the take for you: Boardroom Cue removes filler words and long pauses and trims the ends. None of the other 8 listings mentions filler-word removal.

Which one fits you
You record now and then and don’t want to pay
Teleprompter for Video is free for short scripts and has voice scrolling and an Apple Watch remote. Teleprompter Premium for Video and Teleprompter.com have free versions too. Check what the free tier limits before you write a long script.
You want to pay once
Founder Camera is $9.99, puts the script just under the lens and saves takes to Photos, with no account; it scrolls at a fixed pace rather than following your voice. PromptSmart Pro is $29.99 and adds VoiceTrack voice scrolling.
You care most about privacy
Compare the labels above. Four of the nine list data used to track you. Teleprompter Premium for Video reports collecting no data at all.
You post a lot of short social video
Captions and BIGVU are video editors with a teleprompter built in: captions in many styles, effects, and AI tools aimed at social clips.
You send updates to investors, clients or your team
This is the case Boardroom Cue is built for: templates for those videos with target lengths, the script beside the lens following your voice, then filler words and pauses removed and an export with captions, your name and an end card. It costs more than every other app here: $29.99 a month or $249 a year, with 7 days free on the annual plan. It needs iOS 26 or later, and recording, speech recognition and editing all stay on your iPhone.
What about Elgato Prompter?
Elgato Prompter is a hardware teleprompter for a desk camera, run from a Windows or Mac computer or an Android phone. Elgato says it doesn’t support iPhone, so it isn’t in the tables.
How we checked
We read each app’s US App Store listing on 29 October 2026 and wrote down only what the listing says: price, features named in the description, the privacy label and the rating. Where a listing and the maker’s own website disagreed, we used the listing. If something here is out of date, email support@boardroomcue.com and we’ll fix it.
For how to read a script without it showing, see how to read a script on camera.
Boardroom Cue is the teleprompter and video studio for founders: read beside the lens, record hands-free, and send a clean, captioned video in minutes.
